What is a Giclee?
Giclee (pronounced g-clay) prints are reproductions of orginal paintings using a printing process that accurately reproduces the original work of art on a variety of media. Giclee prints may be offerred in ph balanced (acid neutral) smooth or textured fine art paper, lithograph paper, plus matte paper, or artists canvas. The word "giclee" comes from the French words "le gicleur" meaning "nozzle", or more specifically "sprayed paint". Giclee prints are created on high quality printing systems using specially formulated pigment based inks and fine art printing media. This combination of inks and media results in highly accurate reproductions of Mary's original paintings with projected lifespans of 200+ years if mounted and framed using conservation methods. Giclee reproductions may be offered for sale in the same size as the original painting, smaller than the original painting, or larger than the original painting at the discretion of the artist. Each Giclee print is personally inspected by Mary Hauge, then numbered and signed prior to being shipped to the purchaser. Due to the nature of fine art printing, shipment of a giclee order is approximately two weeks. |
